Daren Pitts Redman is a contemporary textile artist, tailor, and seamstress whose work is rooted in the tactile beauty of handcrafted textiles. Through stitching, dyeing, painting, tailoring, and construction, Daren explores the intimate relationship between fabric, individuality, memory, and storytelling. Each stitch becomes a gesture, and every textile carries a story.

A lifelong love of clothing led her to a career as a tailor and seamstress beginning in the 1980s. Since 2005, Daren has also developed a distinctive practice as a textile artist, hand-dyeing and painting fabrics to create large-scale art quilts that transform cloth into expressive works of contemporary art. Her process is deeply tactile and hands-on, honoring the craftsmanship of traditional textile practices while embracing the possibilities of modern art.

Daren brings this same sensitivity to fabric, detail, and construction to film and television. As a tailor, seamstress, wardrobe specialist, and on-set costumer, she works closely with costume designers, actors, and production teams to ensure that garments fit beautifully, remain camera-ready, and maintain continuity throughout filming.

Her film credits include working as tailor and seamstress for Costume Designer Lisa Smedley-Calderon on The Ice Cream Man, a World War II short film directed by Robert Moniot and produced by Greg Malone. Daren assisted with fitting, altering, and dressing more than 90 actors and actresses for scenes filmed in downtown Columbus and Michigan City, Indiana. The film tells the story of the German invasion of Amsterdam and Ernst Cahn, portrayed by Noah Emmerich, and his wife, portrayed by Gretchen Hall. The Ice Cream Man was shortlisted for the 2025 Oscars.

For The Curse of Mannin Manor, written and directed by Romeo Martinez, Daren served as Costume Designer, wardrobe specialist, and on-set costumer. The film was presented at the McDonough Storytellers Film Festival.

Daren also worked in the wardrobe department of Seniors, starring John Rhys-Davies, Paris Brosnan, and Bethany Anne Lind, with Lisa Smedley-Calderon serving as Costume Designer.

Her work extends into commercial production as well. Daren is the tailor behind Hopper, the frog mascot for Merchants Bank of Indiana. She created Hopper's tracksuit and football uniform for television commercials and served as the on-set costumer.

Whether working in the studio or on a film set, Daren approaches textiles as both material and language. She understands how fabric moves, how clothing lives on the body, and how the smallest alteration can change a character's presence on camera. Her reliability, craftsmanship, adaptability, and eye for detail make her a valued collaborator for costume designers and production teams.

Daren's artistic practice and film work exist in conversation with one another: one explores the expressive possibilities of cloth, while the other brings that knowledge to the living, moving world of performance. In both, she finds the same essential beauty—the transformation of fabric through human hands.
